Environmental Code of Conduct

Please observe the following Code of Conduct while visiting Poole Harbour and the Poole Quay Boat Haven

While in the Harbour

1. Do not land in unauthorised places. The foreshores of the southern side of the Harbour and on the islands in the harbour are private property and the permission of the owner MUST be obtained before landing.

2. Be aware of the nature reserves. Birds need to feed, roost and in some cases nest on the foreshores and saltmarshes. Children and dogs must be under control in these areas.

3. Keep away from roosting and feeding birds. Try not to disturb birds swimming or feeding in the water.

4. Do not dump rubbish, oily waste or any other noxious substance in the water or on the foreshore. This is very harmful to the environment and is an offence against the Harbour Byelaws.

5. Keep noise levels as low as possible. Unnecessary loud and persistent noise disturbs everyone.

While in the Boat Haven

Please follow these rules during your stay in the Boat Haven;

1. Do not throw rubbish or litter overboard in the Boat Haven, Harbour or at sea

5. Please use the waste reception facilities provided for your rubbish and recycling

6. Please use the hazardous waste facilities provided for your oils, batteries and aerosols

7. Please do not leave bags of rubbish or litter on the floor by the bins or on the pontoons

8. Please consider the detergents that you use when washing down your boat and beware of any hazardous wash off.
